People first, then a business we understand, then a clear way we can help.
We do not invest in everything that looks good on paper. Before we put money into a company or a project, we ask a short list of questions. If the answers are not clear, we say no and stay friends.
The people
We start with the owners and the team. Do they know their trade? Do they keep their word? Will they still be there in five years? A good business with the wrong people rarely ends well.
A business we understand
We prefer companies we can explain in a few sentences. If we cannot see where the money comes from and where it goes, we cannot help, and we should not invest.
Where we can add something
Money is only part of what we bring. We look for companies where our trade routes, suppliers or property can make a real difference. That is when an investment works best for both sides.
Finally, we plan for the long term. We agree on what success looks like and how long we expect to stay, before the first payment is made.
