Holding property for the long term

3 min read

We buy property to keep. Patience, upkeep and good tenants do most of the work.

There are two ways to make money in property. One is to buy and sell quickly. The other is to buy well, look after what you own and let time work for you. We chose the second.

Buy carefully

Most of the result is decided on the day you buy. We look at the location, the building, the service charges and who is likely to rent the unit. We would rather wait for the right property than pay too much for the wrong one.

Look after what you own

A well kept property keeps its tenants and its value. We fix small problems before they grow, refresh units between tenants and keep in touch with building management. It is not exciting work, but it pays.

Good tenants are worth a lot

A tenant who stays for years is worth more than a slightly higher rent. We aim for fair prices, quick answers and simple contracts. In return we get fewer empty months and less turnover.

Selling is part of the plan too. When the price is right and the timing makes sense, we sell and put the money into the next property.
